This gemstone, found in Mexico, is an igneous microcrystalline quartz with a mixture of other minerals creating the speckled look. Dalmatian jasper is great for tumbling and is easily polished for a bright luster on beads, cabochons and other jewelry supplies.

Our research revealed that this gemstone is a peralkaline rock of uncertain provenance. It consists predominantly of feldspars (mesoperthite), quartz, alkali amphiboles, and lesser amounts of hematite and epidote. Black spots found in the examined rock's mass were recognized as arfvedsonite.
