The red spots are sometimes called Setonite or Heliotrope in traditional gemology.

The green color originates from chlorite and amphibole, while red spots are caused by iron oxide inclusions, typically hematite. It forms from the cooling and solidification of magma, which creates gas bubbles and cavities filled by silica-rich fluids. Bloodstone deposits are primarily found in India, Brazil, China, Australia, and the United States.
